Sixteen killed, 40 injured as blasts hit church services in Kenya JULY 1, 2012 BY AGENCY REPORTER





Sixteen persons have been confirmed dead and 40 injured in twin blasts that hit church services in Garissa, Kenya on Sunday.
The death toll was confirmed by the Kenya Red Cross.
Garissa is located near Kenya’s border with Somalia.
Regional deputy police chief Phillip Ndolo said baclava-clad hoodlums attacked the town’s Catholic Church and the African Inland Church.
They used guns and grenades in the attacks.
The attacks took place during morning sermons in the garrison town.
