The turnout of voters in Edo Central has been significant.
As early as 7.30am, voters had lined up in various polling units waiting to be accredited.
As promised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), voting materials arrived at the units on time.
There was a long queue in Unit 5 at Arousa Primary School, Ehor, Uhunwonde Local Government Area.
There were security men at most units, including policemen and armed soldiers.
However, the people did not appear intimidated.
On the highways, soldiers mounted roadblocks, conducting searches.
There was security presence at INEC's Edo headquarters as soldiers and policemen stood guard.
A Police Anti-Bomb Squad was on the alert.
A few commercial motorcyclists defied the restriction of movement to do brisk business.
Some took inner roads and bush paths to skirt roadblocks mounted by security agents.
At the Ogbomoide Primary School in Iruekpen, Esan West LG, there were three polling stations, with a good number of people waiting to be accredited.
Chairs were brought for old men and women to sit, and canopies were mounted in case it rains or the sun becomes harsh.
More registered voters were coming out to get accredited at 9.30pm.
About five police officers were seen keeping watch.
