President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has nominated Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar as the New Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN)

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has nominated Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar as the New Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN); making her the first female to occupy the office.

In a letter to the Senate, Jonathan urged senators to approve her appointment.

Justice Mukhtar, 68, succeeds outgoing CJN, Justice Dahiru Musdapher who retires from service on the 16th of this month.
